Railroad Commission of Texas

Leading Texas Energy
Texas is home to 483,571 miles of pipeline. As a landscaper or gardener, it is important that you know where underground utility lines are located before digging. Don’t be the one; call 811 prior to any digging project to ensure the safety of all Texans. The Railroad Commission of Texas encourages you to find out more about pipeline damage prevention and what to do in case of a pipeline emergency that occurs as a result of your work.

In 2021 the Railroad Commission of Texas celebrated 130 years of serving Texans! As the state's oldest regulatory agency, RRC has had a critical role of protecting the interests of the public, and as long as it exists the commissioners and employees will fiercely defend the public's interests.

Our mission is to serve Texas by our stewardship of natural resources and the environment, our concern for personal and community safety, and our support of enhanced development and economic vitality for the benefit of Texans.
